Background of the study
School readiness is the groundwork in achieving equity and quality education. It implies global support as a viable means to help young children reach their full developmental potential and engage in lifelong learning. School readiness is a major part of the child’s friendly strategy as this will help them prepare their whole person to a longer way of learning in school. The school prepare for the families and children ,little children are more likely to enrol in school on time and stay until they complete primary school.
In Central Philippine University, School Readiness and Transitions play a significant indicator to the different milestones in the lives of each children and how parents prepare their child in different transitions. School readiness and transitions are not only measured through what the child already know but also how are their families ready to build relationship with the school where they are going to sent their child.
In the research of school readiness must of early molders that are closely related to children’s school readiness. To define school readiness, children must meet different ability and skills. As identified they need children work related, social skills and learning related.
School readiness is currently defined by three interlinked dimensions: a) ready children; b) ready schools; and c) ready families. Children, schools and families are considered ready when they have gained the competencies and skills required to interface with the other dimensions and support smooth transitions.
The Early Childhood Care and Development or (ECCD) which includes promoting Universal Kindergarten through UNICEF they support the Philippine Government thrust of expanding access to quality of it. Without this ECCD program, the teacher do not know what to do with the child for their upcoming school year. A lot of different transition maybe done by the teacher. This ECCD help promoting the best start of the year in entering their elementary grade. UNICEF aim to obtain discrimination and let the child be included in the list of children who are eager to learn, be participative and have a set of high education.
The Republic Act 10157 is the major refinement in our country Educational System known as the Kindergarten Educational Law or the K to 12. It is said from the administration of Aquino that this law is directive and obligatory to meet the standard of international regarding of the year in the basic education. This Law of Kindergarten must be meet before they proceed to their elementary grade. All children who must enrol in a public or private must meet this said law.
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
This study was administered to find out the factors affecting school readiness and transitions in early childhood education in Central Philippine University during the School Year 2016-2017
Specifically, it sought answers to the following questions:
1. What the factors affect the students’ school readiness and transitions in early childhood education when grouped according to:

2. Is there a significant difference on student’s school readiness and transitions in early childhood education when grouped according to age, parents involvement and environment?
Hypotheses of the study
The hypotheses of this study as stated are as follows:
1. There is no significant difference in school readiness and transitions of students when grouped according to age, parent’s involvement, and environment.

Operational Definitions of Terms

In this study Factors refers to the causes of a result that affect the school readiness and transitions of Central Philippine University students.
School Readiness. This term refers to when you are prepared for something, or when something is ready to be used (Longman Dictionary, 1991).
In this study School Readiness refers to each child enters school ready to engage in and benefit from early learning experiences that best promote their success.
Transitions. This term refers tochanges from one form or state to another (Longman Dictionary, 2000).
In this study Transitions refers to changes as the child cope to new and different factors which encountered in school.
Age.This term refers to the time of life at which some particular qualification, power, or capacity arises or rests (Merriam Webster, 1998).
In this study it refers to the number of years the respondent lives, as of their last birthday.
Parents Involvement.This term refers to the amount of participation a parent has when it comes to schooling and her child’s life (LIVESTRONG.COM).
In this study it refers ass the actual engagement of the family in child’s life in the early years.
Environment.The term refers to the surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal, or plant lives or operates (Oxford Dictionary, 1999).
In this study it refers to the setting where the child was able to bring up, the atmosphere and the transitions in which happened in their daily lives.
Significance of the study
The result of this study would be beneficial to several groups of people:
Central Philippine University Pupils. The result of the survey will make the pupils aware of the factors that would most likely affect the school readiness and transitions of Kindergarteners.
The ultimate importance of the study is directed towards the school readiness and transitions that affect preschool children.
Teachers. The result of the study will enable the teachers to understand behind the school readiness and transitions of the preschool children and it would serve as a guideline in dealing with their children’s academic and co-curricular activities.
Central Philippine University Kindergarten. The result of the study will provide information which could lead to greater understanding in school readiness and transitions of their children academic and co-curricular activities among pre-schooler.
Parents. This will serve as an eye opener to parents since this will enable them to create new ways on how to manage their time towards helping their children in academic and co-curricular activities.
Other researchers. This will help them understand various factors that could affect the school readiness and transitions at Central Philippine University. It will serve as basis or reference for future studies.
Administration of Central Philippine University. This study will also benefit for it will help them understand why some students are usually having problems in school.
Scope and Limitations of the Study
This study was conducted on Kindergarten parents of Central Philippine University, Lopez Jaena, Iloilo City for school year 2016-2017. The population consists of parents in Kindergarten. Sample respondents were randomly selected through stratified random sampling. Questionnaires were given out and used as a tool for gathering the necessary data. In a way that they may able to know the causes that affect students school readiness and transitions and how this factors could affect the students particularly in their school performance.
It will be essential for the parents for this study is a basis on how to nurture their child in a positive encouraging way. Also to know what type of learning style is appropriate for their child in order to succeed in school.
